Our Mom, Betty Jean Everett (Techlin), passed away peacefully at home with her family on Wednesday, October 19, 2016. She was born on July 14, 1935 to the late Edmund and Lillian (Janson) Techlin. She graduated from Central High School and retired from Sears. She enjoyed reading, doing crosswords, playing cards and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death on January 22, 2016 by her husband of 60 years, James Everett, whom she married on October 29, 1955. She is survived by her children: Debra (Rick) Wiergowski and Bruce (Laurie) Everett, her grandchildren: Neil, Clint and Krystal Metvia and Sean Everett, as well as her great-grandchildren: Alex, Austin and Ella Metevia and her big sister, Eleanor Pett, as well as many nieces and nephews. Betty was a member of Grace Church, formerly Fremont Ave. United Methodist Church. Funeral Service will be on Monday, October 24, 2016 at Grace Church-East Campus (the former Fremont Ave. United Methodist Church) at 11 a.m. The Rev. Jeff Temple will officiate with interment following in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at Penzien-Steele Funeral Home on Sunday, October 23, 2016 from 2-5 & 7-9 p.m. She will lie in state at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until service time. Memorial contributions can be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan.
