Betty Lou Witzke, age 99 years, passed away on Monday, September 5, 2016 at the Bay Medical Care Facility. She was born in Bay City on September 1, 1917 to the late Newell and Estella (Woods) Smith. Betty was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 1010. She had been a school bus driver for the Bay City Public Schools and retired as the owner of the Green Hut in Bay City. On July 23, 1955, she married Gearhardt G. "Jerry" Witzke and he preceded her in death on July 5, 1988. She is survived by her daughter, Faye E. Witzke, grandchildren: Kimberly (Jeff) McCormick, Doug (Heidi) Witzke and Lisa (Jim) Zacharko, her great-grandchildren: Brandon (fiance, Alicia) McCormick, Ashley (Neil) Buzek, Emma Witzke, Abby Witzke, Jordin Zacharko and Tasia Zacharko, her great-great-grandchildren: Cole Buzek and Hunter Buzek, a brother, Newell "Bill" Smith and her sisters: Elsie Jacobs and Georgiana Diorka. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Paul Witzke and her son-in-law, Howard Witzke. Funeral and Committal Services will be on Monday, September 12, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Penzien-Steele Funeral Home. The Rev. Erwin M. Hutter will officiate. Private interment will be in Green Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, September 11, 2016 from 2-8 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to Pilgrim Lutheran Church or The Ronald McDonald House.
