Carol Mae Peters was born in LaCrosse, WI on December 25, 1925 to the late Carl and Louise (Pagel) Klawitter. She passed away peacefully in Bay City, MI on December 6, 2016 at home with her family by her side. Carol was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and served as the church secretary for 25 years. Carol loved her church and the many dear friends she made over the years. She married Ralph C. Peters on August 17, 1946 and he preceded her in death on August 26, 1989.
Carol is survived by three children: David (Carol) Peters, Janet (Terry) Gould and Susan Peters, six grandchildren: Brad Seelinger, Bret (Lisa) Seelinger, Mindy (Kevin) Janke, Tammy (Jeremy) Wardynski, Jody (Tony) Barzar and Jill (Darrin) Workman, 12 great grandchildren: Samantha Seelinger, Jake and Katie Seelinger, Kloe Janke, Lena Wardynski, Joey Martinez, Katie Sanders, Ali and Vinnie Palma, Abby, D. J. and Andrew Workman as well as a sister-in-law Janet Klawitter, nieces and nephews Kim Klawitter, Tom (Sarah) Klawitter and Karen Klawitter (Lane) Larson and a very special lifelong friend Dr. Jim Stormont.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by father-in-law and mother-in-law Carl and Agnes (Buchda) Peters, a sister Helen Louise Klawitter, a brother Carl Klawitter, a sister and brother-in-law Ruth (Peters) and Al Lusk and a brother-in-law Nyle Peters.
Funeral service will be Friday, December 9, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church. The Rev. Andreas Teich will officiate. Burial will be at Floral Gardens Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church or American Cancer Society. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Penzien-Steele Funeral Home. She will lie in state at the Church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
