Charles Wesley Legue, age 87 years, passed away peacefully Monday, December 12, 2016 at his residence. He was born on January 11, 1929 in Flint, Michigan, the son of the late Max and Ruth (Shaw) Legue. Chuck was a veteran of the US Army, serving in the Korean War, where he was a POW for 33 months. On December 18, 1954 he married Ila Force and she survives him. Chuck worked as a tool and die maker and he was employed at Means Industries before his retirement. Upon his, and Ila's retirement, they moved to Boyne Falls. Chuck enjoyed being outdoors, fishing and camping.

Surviving family include his wife of 62 years, Ila; children, Debbie (Charles) Slater, Carrie (Ronald) Daenzer and Charles (Lisa Whitaker) Legue II; grandchildren; Jeff McCrandall, Cory Slater, Danielle (Tony Hascal) Slater, Crissy (Dennis) Dutcher, Brandy (Larry) Mangold, Angie (Josh) Turnbull and Chas (Tenley) Legue; sisters, Delphine Gassman and Bonnie Terbush; brothers, Bruce, Alfred, Dale and Louis Legue and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Chuck was preceded in death by his brothers, Bud and John Legue and sisters, Maxine Germain, Doris Gouine and Myrtle Troxell.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 16, 2016 at the Penzien-Steele Funeral Home, 149 N. Main St. in Vassar. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will greet visitors on Thursday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions to the ALS Foundation.
