Dawn G. Hoeg was born in Mt. Clemens, MI on April 9, 1958 to Robert James and Irma Jane (Alwardt) Schwark. She passed away at the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, OH on October 4, 2016.
Dawn was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Saginaw, MI. In 1980 she graduated from Saginaw Valley State University where she played basketball and was involved with many athletic programs as well as being referee. She was a member of the Cardinal Advisory Board and the Cardinal Cabaret. Dawn was a salesperson for various tool and die companies for over 25 years.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis Hoeg who she married August 15, 1981. She also leaves her mother Irma J. Schwark, her siblings: Jane (Mike) Fisher, John (Darlene) Schwark, Diane (Jack) Donahue, Bridget Schwark and Lisa Trombley, a brother-in-law David (Denise) Hoeg, her nieces and nephews: Lindsay Fisher, Kelsey and Eric Schwark, Haley Donahue (Dawn and Dennis' godchild, Sarah Trombley (Dawn's godchild), Amy, Jim, and Andrew Hoeg, and Ellie Hufford and her very special friends June and Dave Bailey. She was preceded in death by her father Robert J. Schwark and her grandparents.
Funeral service will be Monday, October 10, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, Saginaw. The Rev. C. William Weis will officiate. Private burial will be at Clinton Grove Cemetery, Mt. Clemens, MI. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Penzien-Steele Funeral Home, 608 N. Madison Ave. (M-25), Bay City. She will lie in state at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until service time. Memorials may be made to Peace Lutheran Church Seeds to Branches Campaign or Saginaw Valley State University for the Dawn Hoeg Memorial Basketball Scholarship.
