Mrs. Brown, age 95 years, passed away August 3, 2017. She was born in Bay City, MI on June 12, 1922 to Kathryn (Corliss) and Volney R. Young.
Edna was a long-time member of Trinity Episcopal Church. She was active in the Bay City Players for many years, where she had served as an actor, a volunteer, and a member of the Board of Directors. She was an original member of the Aqua Marines Synchronized Swimming Club and swam with them in shows for several decades. Edna was employed by Consumers Power for many years in Bay City and Saginaw. She was a member of the Anne Frisby Fitzhugh Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and enjoyed attending reunion luncheons of the Bay City Central Class of 1939.
On June 1, 1946, she married Charles H. Brown of Pittsfield, Illinois, whom she had met while he was serving with the Army in Bay City guarding Prisoners of War. Charles died in 2008. She is survived by their son, Richard C. (Kristine) Brown of Apollo Beach, Florida; a grandson, Major Daniel Brown and his wife Nancy (Clark) serving with the U.S. Army in Huntsville, Alabama, and a granddaughter, Carolyn Brown (Charles Lodge) of Glastonbury, Connecticut.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church. The Rev. Susan C. Rich will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Trinity Episcopal Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Trinity Episcopal Church, the Bay City Players or the Humane Society of Bay County. The family will receive friends at the Church on Saturday, August 26, 2017 from 10 a.m. until service time. Arrangements are being handled by Penzien-Steele Funeral Home.
