Edward Thomas Roby, age 83 years, passed away on March 5, 2017 at his home. He is now reunited with his soul mate, Marguerite G. Roby by whom he was preceded in death on June 23, 2015. They were united in marriage on March 21, 1953. Edward was born in Bay City on May 20, 1933 to the late Floyd and Edith (Walton) Roby. He served in the United States Army Corp of Engineers during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Dow Chemical Company and was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Essexville. He is survived by 4 children: Jill (Ray) Snyder, Sally Roby, Mark Roby (Cindy Kiczenski) and Michael (Patty) Roby, his grandchildren: Amy (Carey) Winter, Andrea (Chris) Slezak, Eric Schaefer, Peter Schaefer, Chelsea Snyder and Jenna (Ryan) Reinke, Patrick (Patti) Kiczenski, Patricia (Scott) Michalski, Colleen Roby (Chris Maxwell), Aaron Turner, Karen (Shane) Antclif and Matt, his great grandchildren: Chase, Gabe, Anna, Brayden, Jackson, Cole, Kia, April, Stanley, Scott, Madelyn, Savannah, Karley, Maari, Jazmin and Easton and a sister, Linda Beauchamp. He was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Oulette and a brother, Richard Roby. Funeral and Committal Services will be on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. Luke's United Methodist Church. The Rev. Eric A. Stone will officiate. Military Honors will be under the direction of the Bay County Veterans Council. Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 from 5-8 p.m. at Penzien-Steele Funeral Home. He will lie in state at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time. Memorial contributions can be made to the wishes of the family. The family would like to thank McLaren Hospice for the care they gave to Edward and sends a special thanks to Jim McCarthy for his big heart.
