Eugene Carl Gohr, age 100 years, passed away Friday, December 29, 2017 at the Bay County Medical Care Facility with his family by his side. He was born on August 4, 1917 in Bay City the son of the late Charles and Louise (Slezak) Gohr. On May 14, 1955 he was united in marriage to JoAnn Reinhardt at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Eugene was a US Army Veteran serving in World War II. He was a bus driver for many years working for Balcer Brothers, the Bay City Public Schools, Dobson Charters and Bay City Commuter Lines. He eventually retired from H. Hirschfield Sons steel warehouse. Eugene was a diehard Detroit Tigers fan and enjoyed playing Smear. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Eugene was a member of All Saints Parish – St. Boniface Church.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of the Bay Medical Care Facility 2E that loved and supported Eugene and his family.

Surviving family include his wife of 62 years, JoAnn; children, Mark (Jill) Gohr, Linda (Doug) Jacobs, Debra (William) Ebelt and Gary (friend, Shelly) Gohr; 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Eugene was preceded in death by his sister, Lillian Wilson and a great-granddaughter.

The Funeral Liturgy will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at All Saints Parish – St. Boniface Church. The Rev. Fr. Steven Fillion presiding. The Rite of Committal will follow at Floral Gardens Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Tuesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A Vigil for the Deceased will be at 7:00 p.m. Eugene will lie instate at the church on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the liturgy. Memorial contributions can be directed to the wishes of the family.
