Frances Stella Kennard, age 86 years, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, March 12, 2016, at home with her family at her side. She was born on May 4, 1929 in Vassar, the daughter of the late Ignatz and Josephine Rusecki. On June 29, 1950 she married Ray Thomas Kennard and he preceded her in death on June 19, 1985. Frances was a member of St. Frances X. Cabrini Catholic Church. She loved spending time with her family and their pets. Frances also enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers.

Surviving family include her children, Raymond (Linda) Kennard, Valerie (Jerry) Long and David Lee (Sandy) Kennard; grandchildren, Anthony (Ashley) Kennard, Kelly (Michael) Cornman, Misty (Jeamy) Pascual, Erica (Jacob) Butcher, Nikki Long, Thomas (Deanna) Kennard and Anna (Alex) St. Clair; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Dobson and many nieces and nephews. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and four sisters.

The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at St. Frances X. Cabrini Catholic Church, 334 Division St. in Vassar. The Rite of Committal will follow at Riverside Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Tuesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Penzien-Steele Funeral Home, 149 N. Main St. in Vassar. The Vigil for the Deceased will be at 7:00 p.m. Frances will lie in state at the church Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Liturgy. Those desiring may make contributions to St. Frances X. Cabrini Catholic Church or the Rainbow Connection.
