Frederick Michael Klass, Sr. passed away October 1, 2017 at Bay Medical Care Facility, Essexville, MI. He was born in Bay City, MI on September 28, 1939 to the late Raymond and Anna (Magryta) Klass. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne M. (Stasinski) Klass on January 28, 2014.
Fred was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. He sang in the church choir and at many other events. He was active with the Bay City Players and as a Santa at the Santa House. Fred was a partner in Klass Act Catering and was a baker and cake decorator. Prior to retirement he was employed at Saginaw Steering Gear.
He is survived by 5 children: Ann (Rev. Steven) Woodford, Frederick M. Klass, Jr., Karen (Brian) Emmendorfer, James (Mic) Klass and John Klass, 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 3 siblings: Marianne Schempp, Maureen (Jerry) Cook and Donald (Mary Jean) Klass and a sister-in-law Joyce Klass. He was preceded in death by son David, brother Raymond and brother-in-law Joseph Schempp.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 6, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church-West Campus. The Rev. Jeff Temple will officiate. Private burial will be at St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, Bay Medical Care Facility or the Santa House. The family will greet friends at the church from 9:30 a.m. until service time.
