Grace Marie Brownfield, age 79 years, passed away peacefully Sunday evening, September 11, 2016 at St. Mary's of Michigan in Saginaw with her daughter and grandson by her side.. She was born on January 6, 1937 in Hayden Town, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Thomas and Cora (McNatt) Brownfield. Grace grew up in Pennsylvania and worked as a waitress at Joanie's Restaurant, she eventually moved to Michigan and lived in Dearborn and Saginaw, before settling in the Vassar area. Grace loved her family and enjoyed time spent at family gathering. She loved to Polka dancing. Grace also loved sitting outside in the summer with her neighbors, playing cards and having a few 'cold ones'.

Surviving family include her daughter, Erica Rex; grandson, Joshua Horwath-Rex; great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Pamame; special cousin, Shirley (Bob) Swain and her children, John Covach and Lori Rose; and many nieces and nephews. Grace was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Bob Rex; brothers, Thomas, James and Bobbie Brownfield and a sister, Dorothy Campbell. She is also preceded in death by Rudy and Grace Swantek, who raised her after the passing of her parents and Pete Castanon, Erica's father.

Cremation has taken place and no visitation or services are scheduled. Funeral arrangement are entrusted to the Penzien-Steele Funeral Home, 149 N. Main St. in Vassar.
