Vassar, Michigan

Ina Rose Metras, age 90 years, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at Wellspring Lutheran Services in Frankenmuth. She was born on January 9, 1925 in Vassar, the daughter of the late Charles H. and Iva M. (Martin) Sherwood. On her birthday in 1944 she was united in marriage to Alfred J. Metras, Jr., and he preceded her in death in April of 1990. Ina was a bus driver for the Vassar Schools for 15 years and also worked for Queensway Clothing Co. for 18 years.

Surviving family include her children, Alfred (Bonnie) Metras, Linda Greer and Lois (Terry) Morley; grandchildren, Scott (Justine) Metras, Brian (Cindy) Metras, Kristin (Randy) Alexander, Ronald (Christine) Greer, Donald (Paula) Greer, Maegan (Casey) Landskroener, Linzi (Daniel) Ford, Greg Morley and Brad (Nicole) Morley; 17 great-grandchildren; special nieces, Tootsie and Nancy, as well as many other nieces and nephews. Ina was preceded in death by two sisters, Ethelyn Blackmer and Charlene Pierce.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2015, at the Penzien-Steele Funeral Home, 149 N. Main St. in Vassar. Pastor Mitchell L. Drew officiating with burial to follow at Millington Township Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Those desiring may make contributions to Wellspring Lutheran Services or to the 'Family Wishes'.
