James Robert Atkinson, age 59 years, passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Saginaw. He was born on February 7, 1957 in Caro, Michigan to the late Robert E. and Maryellen A. (McDonald) Atkinson. James had worked at Burger King in Frankenmuth. He enjoyed playing cards, working on his computer and watching T.V. He is survived by 4 siblings: Darlene (Reckie) Summerfield, Rose Richards, Mary (Brad) Bradley and Annie (Ronnie) Summerfield, a sister-in-law, Ann Searles, 2 step-sisters: Lillie Summerfield and Corina Reyna, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 brothers: Harvey Searles, Robert Searles, Gary Atkinson and Fenton Atkinson and his step-mother, Beckie Atkinson. A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 19, 2016 at 4 p.m. at Penzien-Steele Funeral Home, 149 N. Main St., Vassar, Michigan. Pastor Mark J. Seppo will officiate. Visitation will be on Monday from 11 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the family.
