James Vincent McPhee, age 68 years, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at the Cartwright Center in Saginaw after a lengthy illness. He was born in Petoskey, Michigan on June 1, 1948. Jim served in the United States Army during the Vietnam war and was stationed in South Korea. He was a master craftsman and problem solver. The more challenging the project, the better. He was a gifted athlete in High School and spent time with his children at their various sporting events and collecting artifacts on the beach. He loved his dogs and leaves behind his buddies, Jabba and Vader. Jim loved the water, the beach and all surrounding state parks. Jim is survived by his wife, the former Jean Cierpiot, whom her married on September 20, 1980, his daughter, Shannon (Matthew) Novotny, his son, Matthew (Erica) McPhee, his granddaughter, Rowan, soon to be born twin grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Michelle (Dan) Wilson, a brother-in-law, Michael Cierpiot, a brother, Jim Ward, a sister, Celeste Ward, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louise and Mick McPhee and his father and mother-in-law, Bernard and Patricia Cierpiot. At Jim's request cremation has taken place. Visitation will be on Friday, March 31, 2017 from 3-7 p.m. at Penzien-Steele Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Humane Society of Bay County.
