John Lee Stevens was born in Danville, IL on April 16, 1933 to the late Darrell Lee and Erma Fawn (Havercamp) Stevens. He passed away at Healthsource Saginaw on April 20, 2017.
John served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He retired from General Motors where he was an electrician. John was a member of Joppa Lodge No. 315, F. & A.M., the Scottish Rite Bodies-Valley of Bay City and the Elf Khurafeh Shrine Temple. He was an avid scuba diver and was part of the group which discovered the wreckage of the Spanish Galleon "Atocha" on April 18, 1985.
Survivors include his 2 sons: John K. Stevens and Norman D. Stevens and several grandchildren, great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Lila Fawn Stevens-Bell.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Penzien-Steele Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeff Temple will officiate. Burial will be at Floral Gardens Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Shrine Hospital. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time.
