Joyce Louise Tinglan was born in Vassar, MI on February 6, 1926 to the late Arthur B. and Relva Beal (Lennox) Bates. She passed away on May 31, 2017 at The Carriage House of Bay City.
Joyce was an active member of the Fremont Ave. United Methodist Church (Grace United Methodist Church). She worked at the Bay County Council of Churches and later for the Bay-Arenac Intermediate School District.
Survivors include her daughter, Trudy Kelly (William) of Clearwater, FL and her son David Tinglan of Bay City, MI, her granddaughters: Tracey Quinn of Safety Harbor, FL; Kimberly Boone of Tarpon Springs, FL and Dana Schaefer of Bay City, MI and seven great grandchildren: Aiden Collins, Halem Schaefer, Ryker Schaefer, Joshua Quinn, Justin Quinn, Jared Quinn and Reeves Boone. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd F. Tinglan and a sister Marie Bates Jones.
Funeral and committal service will be Sunday, June 4, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church-East Campus, 510 Fremont Ave., Bay City. The Rev. Michael W. Luce will officiate. Private burial will be at Floral Gardens Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Saturday, June 3, 2017 from 1 to 4 p.m. She will lie in state at the church on Sunday from 1 p.m. until service begins. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer's Association. The family wishes to offer a special thanks to the staff at the Carriage House.
