Patriotic Emblem

Lee Stedry, age 79 years, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at his residence. He was born on March 2, 1935 in Ithaca, Michigan, the son of the late Frank and Pauline (Summerfield) Stedry. On June 20, 1953 Lee and Leora Craig were united in marriage and after 61 years together she survives him. He was a veteran of the US Army and then retired from General Motors Fisher Body. Lee was a member of the Vassar Eagles Aeries #2380 and was an avid bowler and card player.

Surviving family include his wife, Leora; daughters, Shelley (Charles) Bucholz, Sheila (Duane) Donnelly and Stacy (Leon) Schiefer; grandchildren, Yvonne (Larry) Burrows, Leigh (John) Johnson, Brandon Donnelly, Jamie (Mason) Gorleski, Jennifer Schiefer and Jeremy (Hilary) Schiefer; great-grandchildren, Isabella, Julia, Madison, David, Shane, Brynn, Claire, Madix and Macie; also surviving are his brother, Frank Stedry, Jr.; sisters, Wanda (Wes) Martin and Ruth Hart and many nieces and nephews. Lee was preceded in death by his brothers, Vence, Donald and Art Stedry and Jack Lambert; and sisters, Shirley Martin and an infant sister, Ruth.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 1, 2014 at the Penzien-Steele Funeral Home, 149 N. Main St. in Vassar. Pastor Cathy Christman officiating, with burial to follow at Blumfield Township Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions to the Vassar First United Methodist Church.
