Lydia (Oblender) Young, age 102 years, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2017 at the Carriage House of Bay City. She was born in Bay City on June 12, 1914 to the late George and Eva (Wert) Oblender. She married Raymond Young on November 14, 1942 and he preceded her in death on September 28, 2010 after 67 years of marriage. Lydia was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She enjoyed needlework, arts & crafts and baking-especially Christmas cookies. Survivors include a nephew, Roy (Mary) Krenz, her nieces, Carol (Herman) Blehm and Linda Lee (Roger) Brown, her great-nephews: Michael (Patti) Krenz and Jeffrey (Theresa) Krenz, as well as many great-great nieces and great-great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters: Eva Krenz and Molly Meyer. Funeral and Committal Services will be on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Penzien-Steele Funeral Home. The Rev. Leroy Westphal will officiate. Private interment will be in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time. Memorial contributions can be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Carriage House of Bay City for the loving care they provided to Lydia while she was there.
