Mark Perry Carter, age 56 years of Vassar, died Thursday, February 18, 2016 at his home in Vassar with his dog Buddy beside him. Mark was born November 25, 1959 in Saginaw, Michigan. Mark was the son of Laurence and Nadine Foskett Carter. Mark attended Vassar Schools. Mark was a truck driver for many years. Mark loved to watch the History Channel and loved old cars. His favorite hobby was fishing and duck hunting. He loved his family dearly and was fun to be around, always making people laugh. He loved dirt bikes, motorcycles, racing and Jet-Skis. He is survived by his six children, Cari Burchum of Caro, Kelly Creel of Vassar, Mark Jr. of Vassar, Heather and husband Lantz Porritt of Vassar, Stacy and friend Justin of Vassar, Shane and friend Charon of Vassar, 12 grandchildren, sister Debra and husband Ed Lesko of Mayville, brother Ronald and fiance Trisha of Vassar, brother Raymond and wife Pam of Millington. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Linda Kennard, a grandson Jayden, a son-in-law Rodney Creel, cousin Lois Scott, grandparents Gordon Carter, Joseph and Pearl Matajovitz, Anna and Harry Foskett, uncle Don Carter and aunt Mary Carter. Funeral service will be on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Penzien-Steele Funeral Home, 149 N. Main St., Vassar, Michigan. Pastor Paul McNett will officiate with burial following in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 from 3-8 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the family.
