Patricia Lucille Babiarz, age 77 years, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday evening, June 27, 2017 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She was born in Bay City on August 17, 1939 the daughter of the late Lawrence and Anna (Owczarzak) Szczepanski. Patti graduated from St. Stanislaus High School in 1957. On October 1, 1966 she and John R. Babiarz were united in marriage and on July 10, 1989 he preceded her in death. Patti lived in Tucson, Arizona for a few years while growing up and it was always a place she enjoyed spending time. She worked for Prestolite for years until its closure and more recently worked for Seniors Helping Seniors. Patti also worked as a caregiver and enjoyed the relationships that grew from it. She enjoyed a lifetime of playing the piano and sharing her gift of music with others. She also liked taking trips to the casino. Patti was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish and the Bay Medical Care Facility Auxiliary.

Surviving family include her son, John and wife Renee Babiarz; brother, Al and wife Margie Szczepanski; sister-in-law, Shirley Babiarz and in-laws, Carol (Don) Eager, Barbara Urbaniak and Peter (Kathy) Socha; as well as many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Patti was preceded in death by her sister, Ann (Paul) Suhak.

The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish (St. Stanislaus Kostka Church). The Rev. Fr. Richard M. Filary presiding, with Rite of Committal following at St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery. The family will be present to greet friends on Friday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and also at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the liturgy. A Vigil for the Deceased will be at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.
