Patrick Joseph Van Poppelen was born in Bay City MI, March 4, 1931 to the late Albert and Mary (Vriken) Van Poppelen. He passed away September 24, 2016 after a brief illness at Bay Medical Care Facility. He was the owner of Van Poppelen Bros. in Bay City for many years. He was a member of St. Joseph Church.
He is survived by his wife the former Lorraine Feinauer, his son and daughter in-law Mark Patrick and Renee Van Poppelen, 5 grandchildren: Patrick Joseph Van Poppelen II (Carla), Justin Zielinski (Adriana), Marcus Van Poppelen (Erica), Karlie Witkop (Justin) and Claire Zielinski (Steven) and a great grandson Jace as well as his brother Jack (Connie) Van Poppelen and his sister Barbara (Hugh) Gurnee. He was preceded in death by his brother A. James Van Poppelen.

At Patricks' request cremation has occurred and a celebration of his life will take place on October 29, 2016. Time and location to be determined and announced later.

The family would like extend a sincere thank the wonderful staff (2 West) at the Bay Medical Care Facility.

A celebration of his life will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Penzien-Steele Funeral Home. Visitation from 3 to 4 p.m. and discussion of his life and times from 4 to 5 p.m.
