Robert Lee Shaw, age 79 years, passed away Friday afternoon, September 22, 2017 at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey. He was born in Clare, Michigan on April 20, 1938, the son of the late Hector and Dorothy (Sickles) Shaw. On June 22, 1957 he married Janith Kay Davison and after 60 years together she survives him. Bob was a US Army veteran. He was a residential builder and was the first President of the Bay County Home Builders Association. Hunting and fishing were his first loves and he also enjoyed racing sled dogs.

Surviving family include his wife, Jan; daughter, Sandra LaLone; daughter-in-law, Margaret Shaw; grandchildren, Victoria (Nick) Hubel, Jessica (fiancé, Tyler) LaLone, Katherine LaLone, Elizabeth Shaw, Rachel Shaw, Laura Bontrager and JD Bontrager; great-grandchildren, Trista Hubel and Teagan Hubel; sister, Marjorie Major; sister-in-law, Margery (Ed) Franklin; many nieces and nephews and a close family friend, Kristopher Crosier. Bob was preceded in death by his son, Deputy Chad D. Shaw.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at the Penzien-Steele Funeral Home. The Rev. Erwin M. Hutter officiating. The family will greet friends on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Interment will be at Elm Lawn Cemetery in Bay City. Those desiring may make contributions to MI-C.O.P.S. (Michigan Concerns of Police Survivors).
