Patriotic Emblem

Robert Wayne Clinesmith, age 73 years, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, July 2, 2016 at his residence. He was born on June 2, 1943 in Vassar, the son of the late James and Ester (Leckrone) Clinesmith. Bob was a U.S. Army - Vietnam Veteran serving in the 1st Armored Division. He was united in marriage to Donna Beyette on June 19, 1965, and she survives him. Bob was a member of St. Frances X. Cabrini Catholic Church, the Richville American Legion Post 400, Charter member of the Knights of Columbus Council 7591, Charter member and current Vice President of the Vassar Veterans Military Support Group. Bob was employed at Wicks Grain Elevator for 38 years and also worked for many years as a reserve police officer with the City of Vassar.

Surviving family include his wife of 51 years, Donna; children, Daphne (Terry) Bruns, David (Ashley) Clinesmith, Christopher (Heidi) Clinesmith and Brenda (Rick) Miller; grandchildren, Felicea (Fred) Provost, Eber Cooke Jr., Karra (James) Tice, Daniel French, Jacob, Cody and Dylan Clinesmith, Ashleigh (Zach) Fisher, Krystle Miller and Christopher Miller; great-grandchildren, Destiny, Jannessa, Alexia, James Jr., Camway, Jemma, Abel and another great-granddaughter, Natalie on the way soon; also surviving are three sisters, Beulah Hughes, Edith Auernhamer and Nancy Hecht; as well as many nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Bushong; brothers, James and Elgin Clinesmith and great-grandsons, Warren Pasanski and Max Cooke.

The funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at St. Frances X. Cabrini Catholic Church, 334 Division St. in Vassar. The Rev. Fr. Richard Jozwiak presiding. The Rite of Committal and Military Honors will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. Those desiring may make contributions to the Vassar Veterans Military Support Group.
