Ronald Edward Potter, age 71 years, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2017 at Stone Crest Assisted Living in Freeland. He was born on November 28, 1945 in Bay City, the son of the late Selwyn L. and Ruth L. (Roedel) Potter. Ron served in the US Army during Vietnam. He resided in Seattle, Washington for many years before returning home to Essexville.

Surviving family include his brother, Donald S. (Denise A.) Potter and sister, Sally (Mike) Hornsby; nephews, Donald S. Potter, Jr. and Danny (Sandy) Hornsby; niece, Eleanor K. Demond and many great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.

Memorial service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 5, 2017 at the Penzien-Steele Funeral Home. EJ Brown officiating. Military honors will be presented under the direction of the Bay County Veterans Council. The family will greet friends on Friday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Private interment will be at Floral Gardens Cemetery. Those desiring may make contributions to Stone Crest Assisted Living or McLaren Hospice.
